MWBA Meetings, Pancake Breakfast and Membership rides

The last two meetings were very productive. One of the biggest items and most frequently asked questions was “When is our Pancake Breakfast?” We will have it on November 6,  2011 at Henninger Flats. This is the traditional location for the Pancake Breakfast in the past. Now that the landslide is cleared you can now ride up the Mt. Wilson Toll road and earn your pancakes and swag. This was where MWBA has had a long standing relationship with the USFS and the firefighters who reside up there. Tim Murphy, one of the founding MWBA members, will be taking the lead and is our Event Manager.
Now for the new MWBA Board Members – Greg Lozano-Buhl has join our team. We are very lucky to have such a passionate mountain biker and talented trail worker.
One other big announcement is that we are in the final phase of our IMBA Chapter application and gathering our initial members. We will be having monthly membership rides starting Sept 25, 2011. This will take place at Brown Mountain and meeting @ 8am in the upper JPL parking lot. I will set up some tables with membership forms and maybe some swag for the first lucky few to arrive and sign up. This ride is to show trail stewardship and will be a slow paced climb to the saddle where we will hang out and talk trail work and pancake breakfast.
I hope I see you guys on the trail and please feel free to email me your ideas for more local membership drive rides or any other trail advocacy items.
