I'm not talking 'bout Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard, desperately preparing for her final close-up, I'm talking about doing trail work on Sunset Ridge with very little training and no support from the Forest Service and/or a local chapter of IMBA such as MWBA or CORBA. If you see work that needs to be done please contact us on our facebook page, on twitter, or email us … [Read more...] about Roguing on Sunset
We took the sage advice of our forbearers and made a point to become more regular. So, if you've ever had the desire to volunteer and give back to the community and you are a trail user, why not come out and do some trail work with us? If you can't join us in July, no biggie, come and join us in August. What's that you say? You're busy for the rest of the summer? No problem, … [Read more...] about Regular is Good!
What a day! Approximately 25 volunteers came out to help fix a couple of spots on El Prieto. It was great to see so many people come out and lend a helping hand with one of our most used and beloved trails. With so many volunteers, we were able to complete all of the lower part of El Prieto. We created necessary run-offs on parts of the trail... ...as well … [Read more...] about El Prieto Trail work

Our adopted trail received a mini-facelift early Sunday morning on Sept 23. A group of dedicated volunteers joined us at 7:00 am to improve and make safer a section of the trail just above the Sierra Saddle. A HUGE hearty thank you goes out to our sister organization, CORBA, specifically, Steve Messer, who incidentally, co-authored a fantastic guide to mountain biking in Los … [Read more...] about Sunrise, Sunset
MWBA's newly adopted trail, Sunset Ridge got some much needed attention on June 30. "It makes sense for MWBA to work on Sunset; it is in our backyard and most of us love to ride this trail, " said Doug Sullivan, President of MWBA. It couldn't have happened at a better time, Sunset was in dire need of maintenance. The overgrowth of poison oak, sagebrush, foxtail barley and … [Read more...] about Adopted Trail gets some love
National Trails Day was bright and clear when we gathered at Red Box to divide up and work on the Gabrielino Trail. While some groups worked from the top of Mount Wilson on other trails, MWBA, CORBA, Bear Canyon Trail Crew, volunteers from REI and others started from Red Box. Mitch and Doug led our group down to a "short cut" to take us half way down the trail to Switzers. … [Read more...] about National Trails Day June 2, 2012
A big thanks goes out to Dave Ledford, along with his sidekick, John Horton, who patiently walked a group of approx 15 people through the ins and outs of trail building. However, on Saturday, over 50 kids convened from the San Gabriel Valley Composite, Crescenta Valley HS, Clark Magnet HS, San Marino HS, and St. Francis HS, along … [Read more...] about SoCal High School Bicycling League Can Move Mountains!!
