First of all thanks for everyones supports. We had lots of PMBC volunteers and several local and long distance people that showed. Keith Bontrager came out and not only supported the event but made chili for the BBQ. KB is a great friend of MWBA and always finds a way make it to our event.
The success of this event to get off the ground has been from the relentless effort from Tom Purnell. He make the USFS contacts and gets the LA County’s approval for the Cobb Estate usage to make this happen. He keeps us organized and on track to get this done. Matt Ley uses his Pro Downhiller skilz to get most of the swag from the sponsors. Babz, Mitch and Mark spend endless hours on trailwork and put in extra time along with PMBC volunteers to get the site ready.
We had a lot of support from our local bike shops. Pasadena Cyclery dedicates staff and time to make this happen. This year Incycle not only donated but Robert took the time to gather more sponsors for the event and put together a bike demo. Jones 2 of San Marino has the most interesting raffle prizes and Benson even got us a bike from Giant. Then had a bike demo too. Velo Pasadena donates every year and always supports MWBA. Open Road always supports with donations too. Steve’s Altadena is the closest to the event and he gets the word out to all the local neighbors to attend the event. Temple City Bike Shop has supported MWBA every year and this year brought his whole family to the breakfast. Several other bike shops posted our flyer and sent many of their customers to the event.
This year we had Foes back and they have always been a big supporter of MWBA. Trek returned and even donated a bike to the raffle. Niner returned and showed off there entire line. Giant had a demo and gave us a bike as mentioned. Altadena Mtn Rescue returned and we had a Specialized demo thanks to Incycle.
Tim Murphy MC’d the event. He is one of the original MWBA riders and trail work bosses. We made pancake for 2 hours solid and sold out. Thanks to every local mountain biker and even a few Pros showed up to support the event. The SoCal High Schools Mtn bike teams rode up and CORBA made it to the event this year too. I could go on an on trying to mention ALL the people that supported this event and made it so successful but I’m sure I would miss a few. Thanks Scott for the new website it looks great and thanks to my family that gave me the time and support to volunteer myself to MWBA. See you guys on the trails and El Prieto as soon as we get it open.

Same location. Bigger and more prizes
This year we got an early start and it’s getting to be a much bigger event than last year. We already have bigger prizes (complete bikes) and more prizes from several more sponsors. We have so many prizes that we will be giving out a swag bag to the first 100 people to pay for a breakfast and buy $10 worth of raffle tickets. We have all the venders returning and some new ones too. The list is growing and the website will be updated soon. We are also on FACEBOOK and you can always look at the PMBC website and FB for additional information.
